Peter Dunn serves as Assistant Professor & 3D Design Shop Manager at the College for Creative Studies, where he has taught for 27 years within the Visual Development program.
He holds a BFA from Wayne State University and an MFA from the University of Michigan.
His research centers on behavioral design, exploring system image usability, comfort noise, and designed interactions as communication tools. Drawing from Donald Norman's user-centered design principles, he investigates how objects convey meaning through sculpture, graphite drawing, and furniture fabrication, with influences ranging from Brutalist architecture to cinematic world-building. His practice translates three-dimensional concepts into visual forms while examining the 'found object' in contemporary material culture.
As 3D Design Shop Manager, Dunn oversees fabrication facilities supporting design and architectural production for students and faculty.
