Peter Darlington

Peter Darlington is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology at Concordia University's Science College, with a secondary appointment in Biology. He earned his PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from The University of Western Ontario.

His research focuses on immunology and autonomic nervous system interactions, particularly how stress hormones and autonomic drugs modulate T cell function. His lab employs multidisciplinary methods including cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR, and studies of acute sympathetic responses in human immune cells.

Recent publications highlight his work on β2-adrenergic receptor effects in autoimmune diseases, neuroimmunology in multiple sclerosis, and autonomic-stress-pain interactions. He has received a Concordia University Science College Fellowship (2017).

His teaching philosophy emphasizes blending traditional methods with innovative approaches to foster critical thinking and cutting-edge knowledge. Collaborative projects span exercise science, psychology, and advanced gene-editing technologies.
