Peter D Friedmann

Peter D Friedmann is a Professor at UMass Chan Medical School within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences. He holds additional roles at the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in programs related to Clinical Investigation, MD/PhD, and Population Health. His work focuses on substance use disorders, opioid use disorder treatment, and public health policy, particularly in rural populations and incarcerated settings.

Research Interests: Friedmann's research addresses barriers to medication-assisted treatment (MOUD) in rural areas, health equity, and the intersection of criminal justice with addiction medicine. Recent Publications highlight trends in rural opioid and methamphetamine use, syringe sharing, and systemic healthcare disparities. His work employs clinical trials, qualitative analysis, and epidemiological methods to improve treatment continuity post-incarceration.
