Professor Peter Cockcroft is a leading academic in production animal medicine and veterinary education at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Surrey. Previously, he served as Head of Veterinary Education at Surrey and held roles including Professor of Ruminant Health at the University of Adelaide and academic positions at the University of Cambridge and the Medical University of Southern Africa. He specializes in clinical reasoning, evidence-based veterinary practices, and disease surveillance for pathogens like Mycobacterium avium (Johnes' disease) and BVDV in livestock.
Qualifications include a VetMB from the University of Cambridge, MSc in Tropical Animal Health, MBA from the Australian Institute of Business, and European College of Bovine Health Management diplomate status. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His research focuses on improving diagnostic methods using colostrum and serum for bovine and ovine diseases.
- Authored five veterinary textbooks, including Clinical Examination of Farm Animals and Handbook of Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine.
