Dr. Peter Chen is a Research Scientist at the Department of Mechanical Engineering within the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Colorado State University. He is affiliated with Dr. Jason Quinn’s Sustainability Research Laboratory, focusing on algae cultivation for renewable fuels and environmental services. His work combines experimental operations on algal turf scrubber systems with system modeling of algal cultivation and conversion processes.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University (2021) and a B.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder (2014). Prior to his current role, he held postdoctoral positions at Argonne National Laboratory and conducted research at Pacific Northwest, National Renewable Energy, and Los Alamos National Laboratories.
Research interests emphasize techno-economic analyses, life-cycle assessments, and sustainable aviation fuels. His contributions bridge experimental and computational approaches to advance renewable energy systems.
