Peter Bøggild is Professor and Section Leader at the Technical University of Denmark's Department of Physics, where he leads research on 2D materials engineering and physics. His expertise focuses on graphene, carbon nanotubes, and quantum devices.
He holds a PhD in low temperature physics from University of Copenhagen (1998) and an MSc in physics and computer science from Roskilde University (1994). His research group, NANOCARBON, specializes in fabrication and characterization of nanoscale devices, large-area graphene production, band gap engineering, and molecular electronics.
Research projects include DSF DAGATE research alliance (coordinator), NMP GLADIATOR (workpackage leader), and the Center for Nanostructured Graphene (WP leader). He has supervised 44 MSc and 23 PhD students throughout his career.
Recent publications focus on advanced materials for quantum technologies, particularly van der Waals heterostructures for high-temperature quantum devices and photonic applications. His work bridges fundamental physics with applications in quantum computing and energy-efficient electronics.
