Dr. Pete Lampard is a Research Fellow in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York, specializing in health and climate change communication. He joined York in 2019 after teaching sociology for seven years at St Mary’s University and the University of Manchester.

His research explores how social and material factors influence knowledge production, distribution, and consumption, particularly in health systems and climate change responses. He applies critical theory, cultural theory, and historical materialism to healthcare innovation and implementation processes.
Key projects include:
- MEASURE: Evaluating high-volume low-complexity surgical hubs in England
- Lancet Countdown: Analyzing media and political engagement with health and climate change
- NIHR-funded studies: Examining public perceptions and messaging strategies
He actively contributes to the Athena Swan working group and holds memberships in the Media, Communications and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA) and the Society for Social Medicine (SSM). Recent invited talks highlight his work on climate change issue salience and social movement theory.
