Pete Kollbaum serves as Associate Dean for Research and Director of the Borish Center for Ophthalmic Research at the Indiana University School of Optometry, holding the academic rank of Professor with Graduate Faculty status to chair PhD committees.
His academic credentials include:
- Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry (1999)
- Master of Science in Clinical Research from IU School of Medicine (2007)
- Ph.D. in Vision Science from Indiana University School of Optometry (2007)
Research focuses on contact lens optics, fitting, and design with specialized expertise in presbyopia correction, myopia management, keratoconus treatment, and ocular metrology. His work integrates corneal topography, refractive surgery optics, and predictive modeling to advance vision science.

- Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO)
- Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA)
As Graduate Faculty, Dr. Kollbaum mentors doctoral candidates and teaches core courses including Optics IV and Contact Lenses I. He maintains active roles in the American Academy of Optometry, ARVO, ISCLR, and BCLA while serving on the American Academy of Optometry Foundation Board of Directors.
