Perrine Hamel

Perrine Hamel is an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University's Asian School of the Environment. Her research focuses on urban ecosystem services, ecosystem-based management, and water resource management. She previously worked at Stanford University's Natural Capital Project and co-founded Co-Risk Labs, promoting collaborative practices in disaster risk management. Hamel holds a Master’s from Ecole Centrale Nantes and a PhD from Monash University.

Her work integrates interdisciplinary approaches to urban resilience, including climate adaptation and nature-based solutions. Recent projects involve modeling urban cooling, assessing green infrastructure benefits, and evaluating low-cost water monitoring systems in tropical regions.

Publications span topics like urban heat mitigation, ecosystem service valuation, and participatory planning in informal settlements. She leads the Resilient and Inclusive Cities Lab, aiming to enhance urban resilience through natural infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region.
