Per Stenberg is an Associate Professor at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, Umeå University. His research focuses on the evolution of cells, organisms, and ecosystems, utilizing DNA sequencing and computational data analysis. He leads projects analyzing decades-long airborne biodiversity data to study climate, weather, and land-use impacts on ecosystems. Notable work includes predicting pest species abundance and developing tools for microbial forensics. Stenberg collaborates on initiatives like NorthDIVeRSITY, leveraging eDNA for northern biodiversity monitoring. His expertise spans genomics, microbial ecology, and computational biology. He holds a Ph.D. in relevant fields and has secured significant research funding, including a 2021 grant on forests' climate roles. He is affiliated with the Evolutionary Biology research group and contributes to interdisciplinary projects.
