Per Morgen is a Danish Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark’s Department of Physics and Chemistry, with adjunct roles in SDU Chemical Engineering. He holds a Doctor of Science degree and has led major surface analysis infrastructure development since 1991.

His research spans experimental surface science, nanotechnology, and materials for energy applications. Key areas include:
- Semiconductor surface physics
- Atomic-layer thin film growth
- Nanostructured Al2O3 templates
- Nanoparticle applications in fuel cells/solar cells
- Synchrotron radiation surface studies
- Biomedical polymer surface conditioning
- Hydrogen storage materials
Recent work focuses on iridium-based electrocatalysts for water splitting, with collaborations spanning India, Japan, and Germany. He has supervised over 50 bachelor’s and master’s projects and 10 PhD theses.

- FINST innovation consortium (2007-2009)
- EU LEONARDO LASTED.net project (2004-2007)
He co-founded NanoS ApS in 2001 and maintains visiting professor status at the Indian Institute of Science since 2003, with notable work on tribological systems and educational technology.
