Per Henningsgaard is a Senior Lecturer in Professional Writing and Publishing at Curtin University, Perth. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia (2009), supported by a Fulbright Grant (2005), and has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Portland State University. His research focuses on publishing studies, book history, and Australian literature, with particular attention to regional publishing, Indigenous literatures, and digital publishing.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on publishing, editing, and professional writing. He founded Elephant Page Publishing, a student-led publishing house, and directs academic publishing initiatives. Research interests span publishing industry analysis, transnational publishing, and the role of editing in authorship.
Key awards include IPEd Accredited Editor certification and Fulbright recognition. Supervised over 20 HDR students exploring topics like structural editing, translated literature for youth, and Australian cultural narratives. Active in professional networks via ORCID, Google Scholar, and LinkedIn.
Publications include studies on Tim Winton’s US publishing, Alexis Wright’s international reception, and digital publishing pedagogy. His work bridges academic research with practical industry engagement, emphasizing cultural sustainability through publishing education and community partnerships.
