Penghui Yan

Dr. Penghui Yan is a Research Fellow at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Queensland. He holds a Master's degree in Industrial Catalysis from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2013) and a PhD from the University of Newcastle (2019). His career spans industrial roles at Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (2013-2014), academic research at the University of Newcastle (2014-2022), and current work at UQ since 2022.

Research focuses on renewable energy and catalysis, particularly biomass conversion to biofuels, CO2 methanation, and advanced catalyst design. His work involves heterogeneous catalytic systems for hydrodeoxygenation, gas-diffusion electrode engineering, and industrial-scale applications.

Recent publications highlight innovations in biocrude upgrading (2025), CO2 electroreduction (2024), and catalyst durability for biomass processing (2023). Collaborations include Licella (Australia) for biofuel commercialization.

Available for supervision, he continues exploring CO2 conversion technologies and catalytic material design, with a focus on commercial viability and environmental impact mitigation.
