Pengcheng Xiao is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, College of Science and Mathematics, Kennesaw State University. His research focuses on Computational Neuroscience, Mathematical Biology, and Machine Learning, with applications to epidemiological modeling and data analytics.
Education: Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (The University of Texas at Arlington, 2015); M.S. in Analytics (Georgia Institute of Technology, 2022); M.S. in Mathematical Science (The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, 2011); B.E. in Computer Information (China University of Mining and Technology, 2009).
Research Interests: His work bridges computational neuroscience (modeling stress effects on cognitive functions and seizure dynamics), mathematical biology (epidemiological models of smoking and e-cigarette use), and machine learning (image classification and sample selection methods). Recent projects include analyzing misinformation diffusion on social networks and the impact of health education on youth tobacco use.
Advising and Collaborations: Supervises undergraduate research projects on epidemiological modeling and smoking dynamics. Advises students including Jan Strydom, Jesse Todd, Sydney Chittarath, Nick Vincent, and Aria Mokhtari. Active in teaching calculus, linear algebra, and probability theory courses.
