معرفی
Peng Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Rutgers University and a graduate faculty member in the Department of Statistics. He completed his postdoctoral research at Yale University (2018–2021) under Prof. Daniel Spielman and earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech in 2018, advised by Prof. Richard Peng. His academic background includes MS (Purdue University, 2015) and BS (Zhejiang University, 2013) degrees in Computer Science.
Zhang's research focuses on algorithm design, numerical analysis, and discrepancy theory, with applications in causal inference and data science. His work has been supported by prestigious awards, including the NSF CAREER Award, Adobe Data Science Research Award, and Rutgers Research Council Fulcrum Award. He co-organized an IASM-BIRS workshop on combinatorics and theoretical computer science (June 2025).
His teaching includes courses on numerical analysis, combinatorial optimization, advanced algorithms, and discrepancy theory at Rutgers and Yale. He advises PhD students Jing Jia, Qing Chen, and Ziyi Cai. Recent research trends involve spectral graph theory, linear equation solvers, and applications of discrepancy theory to experimental design.
