Professor Pellenard Pierre is a sedimentary geologist at Université Bourgogne Europe, leading the 'Sediments, Environments and Surface Dynamic' (SEDS) research team. His work focuses on paleoenvironments, paleoclimates, and integrated stratigraphy, particularly in Carboniferous/Permian, Mesozoic, and Paleogene deposits. He specializes in chemostratigraphy, geochronology, and cyclostratigraphy, with expertise in clay mineralogy and volcaniclastic deposits.
- Current Position: Full Professor in the Department of Biogéosciences, CNRS UMR 6282.
- Key Research Areas: Jurassic and Cretaceous stratigraphy, Late Paleozoic sedimentary basins, and orbital climate forcing.
- Notable Contributions: Calibration of the Autunian stratotype, GSSP for Barremian Stage, and high-precision U-Pb dating of volcanic ash layers.
Research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches combining field studies, geochemical analyses, and numerical modeling to reconstruct ancient climates and tectonic processes. Active in international collaborations, including work in France, Uzbekistan, and Argentina.
