Pelin Tan is a Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Batman University (Turkey), with dual roles as Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Arts, Design and Social Research (Boston). Her work bridges art, architecture, and sociology, focusing on urban conflict, labor conditions, and alternative pedagogies. She holds a PhD in Art History from Istanbul Technical University (2010) and has held academic roles at institutions like Mardin Artuklu University (Associate Professor, Architecture) and Koç University (Assistant Professor, New Media).
Her research explores spatial justice through projects like Gardentopia (Matera 2019–2020), which links cultivation practices to commons theory, and Urgent Pedagogies, an international platform on radical learning spaces. She co-curated the Didier Fiúza Faustino retrospective at MAAT Lisbon (2022) and produced films such as She Who Saw the Deep (Sharjah Film Platform, 2022). Awards include the Japan Foundation Fellowship (2012) and Keith Haring Fellowship (2019–20).
