Pei-Yu Chiou

Pei-Yu Chiou serves as a Professor in both the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), within the School of Engineering and Applied Science. He directs the UCLA Optofluidics Systems Laboratory and maintains an office in Engineering IV room 37-138.

His academic foundation includes a degree from UC Berkeley completed in 2005.

Dr. Chiou's research program integrates optical, fluidic, and electronic systems to pioneer solutions in biological analysis, with core expertise spanning biophotonics, nanophotonics, BioMEMS/NEMS development, electrokinetics, microfluidic biofluidics manipulation, guided self-assembly techniques, and high-throughput single-cell analysis platforms. His work targets transformative applications in biomedical diagnostics and cellular-level biological studies.

His scientific contributions have earned significant recognition:
