Peggy Series is Professor and Chair in Computational Psychiatry at the Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation within the University of Edinburgh's School of Informatics. She leads the Computational Psychiatry Lab where she investigates Bayesian models of perception and cognition in mental health disorders. Her research examines how prior beliefs and learning mechanisms differ in conditions like schizophrenia, autism, depression and anxiety.
Education includes:
- DEA in Biomathematics from Universite de Paris VI
- MSc in Knowledge Based Systems from University of Sussex
- Engineering degree from Institut Supérieur d'Électronique de Paris
- PhD in Computational Neuroscience from UNIC
Research focuses on:
- Bayesian inference deficits in neurodevelopmental disorders
- Computational modeling of PTSD and anxiety mechanisms
- Self-representation in schizophrenia spectrum disorders
- Predictive processing frameworks for mental health
Supervises PhD students working on: Bayesian inference in autism, anxiety modeling, PTSD mechanisms, and self-representation in schizophrenia. Actively recruits through Edinburgh's CDT in Biomedical AI program.
Leads collaborations with researchers internationally including University of Lille, ENS Paris, NYU, and University of Córdoba. Notable cycling achievements include multiple national championships and completing the Tour de France route.
