Peggy O’Neill, Ph.D., LCSW, is an Associate Professor at Smith College School for Social Work (SSW). She previously served as Senior Lecturer at Columbia University School of Social Work and as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Smith SSW (2015–2017). Her clinical and academic work focuses on anti-oppression practices, trauma resilience, and culturally attuned psychoeducational approaches. O’Neill holds a B.A. from Boston College, an M.S.W. from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. from New York University.
Her research emphasizes critical conversations in clinical supervision and education, structural clinical approaches to disrupting oppression, and social justice frameworks. Notable contributions include developing the Structural Clinical Model and co-authoring the 2022 award-winning article on social justice dialogues. She has presented widely on topics such as anti-racism in social work education and crisis intervention strategies.
