Peggy Canales

Peggy Canales is an Associate Professor of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering at Indiana Tech, affiliated with the Talwar College of Engineering and Computer Sciences. She holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University (1992) and a BSME from Tri-State University (1985). Her career combines 27+ years of teaching with extensive experience as a manufacturing consultant and automotive industry engineer. She previously worked at Tenneco Automotive and Chrysler Corporation, focusing on process engineering, ergonomics, and quality systems.

Dr. Canales specializes in Lean Manufacturing methodologies, having conducted training across multiple states and participated in certifications like the Shingo Institute’s 'Discover Excellence' program (2023) and Lean Leadership Certification (University of Michigan). She teaches courses such as IME 2010, 2020, and 4020, and advises IME undergraduate students. Her professional experience includes a federal-state consulting role aiding Indiana businesses in competitiveness through technology and process optimization.

She has completed advanced training in environmental manufacturing practices, project management for SMEs, and ergonomics. Notable certifications include ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, OSHA 30-hour training, and the Social Emotional Learning Certificate. Her teaching portfolio spans Indiana Tech and Indiana Wesleyan University, with adjunct roles since 1993.
