Pedro McDade, S.J., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Saint Louis University's College of Arts and Sciences. He joined SLU in 2023 after serving as an Invited Assistant Professor at the Catholic University of Portugal (2021-2023). His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Warwick (2020), an M.Sc. in Philosophy of the Social Sciences from the London School of Economics (2013), and theological degrees from Boston College and Comillas Pontifical University.
McDade's research explores the intersection of philosophy, economics, and ethics, with core interests in:
- Reciprocity and cooperation dynamics in economic behavior
- Critiques of homo economicus models
- Behavioral economics and moral psychology
- Catholic Social Thought applications in economics
- Philosophical foundations of social sciences
His publications demonstrate interdisciplinary scholarship bridging economics, theology, and philosophy. Recent works analyze reciprocity in economic cooperation (2020), while earlier articles examine Pauline economic ethics (2009) and anthropological foundations of economics (2008).
