Paweł Widerski

Paweł Widerski is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Law within the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL). He holds a PhD in law obtained in April 2016 with a dissertation titled "The Essence of Power of Attorney in Polish Law," which earned second prize in the LII National "State and Law" Competition. His academic journey includes distinguished studies in law at KUL (2005-2010), finance and accounting at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (2009-2012), and the School of American Law (2010). Since 2014, he has practiced as a legal counsel following completion of professional training (2011-2013).

Widerski's research focuses primarily on civil law, particularly power of attorney mechanisms, contractual penalties, cooperative law, and administrative law. His scholarly work demonstrates a consistent pattern of addressing both theoretical foundations and practical applications of Polish civil law, with recent publications examining contemporary issues such as housing frameworks for Ukrainian refugees. His publications span multiple languages including Polish and English, reflecting engagement with both domestic and international legal communities.

His academic output shows a clear progression from foundational civil law concepts to specialized applications, with notable emphasis on power of attorney mechanisms across various legal contexts. Recent work has expanded to address urgent contemporary legal challenges, particularly the 2024 publication on housing frameworks for displaced persons from Ukraine, demonstrating responsiveness to evolving societal needs through legal scholarship.

Among his notable achievements is winning second prize in the prestigious LII National "State and Law" Competition for his doctoral dissertation, recognizing exceptional scholarly contribution to legal studies in Poland.

Widerski maintains active scholarly engagement through conference participation, including contributions to the Nationwide Scientific Conference commemorating the centenary of Poland's Cooperatives Act.
