Paulo Carvalho

Paulo Carvalho is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Feik School of Pharmacy, University of the Incarnate Word. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Medicinal Chemistry and has previously taught at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Research interests include:

• Synthesis of enzymatic inhibitors targeting tropical diseases
• Natural Products chemistry
• Development of analytical methods for drug quantification in biological fluids

His publications span synthetic, computational, and analytical chemistry domains. Awards include:

• Teacher of the Year (2014/15)
• Provost’s Legacy Teaching Award (2018/19)

He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the Rho Chi Society. Personal interests include nature, camping, classical music (Medieval and Baroque), and home improvement projects.
