Pauline Pilote is a Lecturer in English Studies at the University of Southern Brittany since 2018. Her research focuses on the historical novel, transatlantic studies, and 19th-century American literature, particularly the works of James Fenimore Cooper and Walter Scott. She contributes to academic publishing as co-editor of Le roman historique en ses frontières and serves on editorial committees.
- Education: Master’s (2009-2012) and Ph.D. (2013-2017) at ENS Lyon; English teaching qualification (2012).
Her research explores the construction of national imagination and collective memory through literary analysis of Cooper’s pastoral landscapes, Scott’s transatlantic influence, and gender dynamics in frontier narratives. She examines how historical fiction negotiates post-independence American identity, revolutionary trauma, and cultural translation.
Key publications include studies on transatlantic genre adaptation, chivalric reinvention, and domestic fiction’s role in nation-building from 2015 to 2024. Pilote actively contributes to academic governance as Director of the Master MEEF PLC Anglais program and jury member for French teaching qualifications.
