Pauline Gervier

Pauline Gervier is a Lecturer in Public Law at the University of Bordeaux and conducts her research at the Centre for Comparative Studies and Research on Constitutions, Liberties and the State (CERCCLE), where she serves as Deputy Director. She is also Director of Studies for the École Normale de la Magistrature (ENM) at the Bordeaux Institute of Judicial Studies.

Her research centers on the tension between public order and fundamental rights, particularly during states of emergency, and explores mechanisms like the Priority Question of Constitutionality (QPC). She investigates legal pluralism, especially the coexistence of state law and customary justice in countries such as Côte d’Ivoire and Burundi.

The recent publications reflect a deep engagement with constitutional balancing, judicial review, and normative pluralism. Her work spans doctrinal, empirical, and comparative methodologies, contributing to both academic and public legal discourse in France.
