Paulina Gonzalez Latapi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. She specializes in Movement Disorders and leads the Hispanic Movement Disorders Clinic. Additionally, she serves as the Program Director for the Movement Disorders fellowship.
Her educational background includes an MD from Universidad Panamericana School of Medicine (2013) and an MS in Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (2015).
Dr. Gonzalez-Latapi's research focuses on Parkinson's disease, with an emphasis on epidemiology and the discovery of prodromal biomarkers. Her work spans DNA epidemiology, epigenetics, gene-environment interactions, neurogenetics, and the application of botulinum toxin in Movement Disorders. She is particularly interested in Hispanic populations, as evidenced by her leadership of the Hispanic Movement Disorders Clinic.
Her recent publications highlight a strong trend in investigating epigenetic biomarkers for Parkinson's disease, exercise interventions, and medication adherence in diverse populations. Key themes include DNA methylation patterns, epigenetic clocks, and culturally tailored therapeutic approaches.

Her work is supported by affiliations with the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM), the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), and the Simpson Querrey Institute for Epigenetics.
Dr. Gonzalez-Latapi is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology and the International Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Society, and she contributes to global neurology initiatives through the Neuro-Infectious Disease & Global Neurology division.
