Paula Rankin

Dr. Paula Rankin is the Head of the Department of Health and Sport Sciences at South East Technological University. She holds a PhD from Newcastle University, a Masters from Loughborough University, and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Limerick, with additional training from the International Olympic Committee. Her research focuses on exercise recovery, sport nutrition, and the female athlete, particularly in team sports like camogie and rugby.

Her work explores training demands, physical characteristics of athletes, and performance optimization. Recent studies include analyzing running demands in camogie and rugby, and positional dynamics in inter-county matches. Dr. Rankin collaborates widely, contributing to over 14 peer-reviewed articles since 2010. She currently accepts PhD students and participates in academic activities like organizing conferences on sport science and the female athlete.
