Dr. Paula Fekete is a faculty member at the United States Military Academy (USMA) with over two decades of experience teaching and directing physics and space science courses. She has served as Program Director for the Interdisciplinary Science and Space Science programs, enhancing educational experiences for cadets and faculty. Her research focuses on physics and space science, mentoring nearly 50 undergraduate cadets across multiple semesters, guiding their work toward peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Education: Ph.D. in Physics from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York; M.A. in Physics from Hunter College, CUNY; B.S. in Physics from the University of Timisoara, Romania.
Dr. Fekete has contributed to USMA’s governance since 2010 as a member of the Faculty Council and Curriculum Academic Excellence Assessment Steering Committee. She chairs the Combating Mediocrity Committee and collaborates with groups like the Civilian Faculty Senate and Core Curriculum Working Groups. She also developed two advanced courses—Observational Astronomy and Astrophysics—and played a pivotal role in acquiring and installing observatory equipment for astrophotography and visual observation. Her dedication extends to cadet development as an academic advisor since 2009, Officer Representative for the Track and Field Team, and Officer in Charge of the Cadet Astronomy Club.
