Dr. Paul York is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer & Cyber Sciences at Augusta University's School of Computer and Cyber Sciences. He holds an MS in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology (2017), a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Georgia (2011), and a BBA in Management Science from the University of Georgia (1994). His research focuses on artificial intelligence, assistive technologies, social media, and educational technology, emphasizing technologies that improve lives through innovation.
Dr. York has over 30 years of professional experience in computer science and information systems. Notable research contributions include the development of telehealth systems for Parkinson’s patients, automated grading software (Auger), and assistive technologies like START and KinectEx. His work bridges technology and societal impact, exploring topics such as green IS, open-source business models, and technology-augmented rehabilitation.
- Teaching Focus: Software development, systems analysis, and database management systems (courses like AIST 3410 and AIST 2110).
- Service: Served as Chair of SCCS Academic Affairs Committee (2017–2018) and currently chairs the Biomedical Systems Engineering Proposal Committee (2021–present). Active in university governance through roles like AU Senate Bylaw Committee member (2019–2020).
