Paul Williams is an Associate Professor of Politics & Journalism at Griffith University's School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science with 35 years of professional experience spanning political science, journalism, and pedagogy. His research focuses on Australian and Queensland politics, political leadership, elections, and voting behavior.
Education includes a PhD in Political Science from University of Queensland, MA in International Relations from Griffith University, and Graduate Diploma of Teaching from Brisbane College of Advanced Education.
Research interests center on Australian national/state politics, political leadership, voting behavior, and media-politics intersections. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed works and 1,000 newspaper columns.
Recent publications focus on Queensland state politics, federal elections, and regional voting patterns, primarily analyzing electoral behavior and policy impacts.
Awards include Griffith University's Excellence in Teaching Award (2004) and three other teaching awards. Supervised 7+ doctoral candidates on topics including political communication, gender representation, and COVID-19 rhetoric.
