Paul Webb

Dr Paul Webb is a Reader in the School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews, specializing in catalysis, materials science, and biomineralization. His research focuses on advanced characterization techniques such as neutron scattering, XPS, and NMR to study catalyst behavior and biomineralization processes.

Key areas of investigation include Fischer-Tropsch catalysis, hydrogen storage, and the effects of environmental factors (e.g., ocean acidification) on biological calcification. He supervises PhD students Fraser Mealyou and Rosalind Van Der Does De Willebois.

Recent work includes developing high-throughput beamline facilities (VerSoX B07-B) and analyzing otolith morphology in fish under CO₂ exposure. His publications span over 20 years, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches combining chemistry, biology, and engineering.
