Paul T. Allen is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of New Mexico - Taos (2024–present) and currently on leave from Lewis & Clark College, where he served as an Associate Professor (2016–2024) and was granted tenure in 2016. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Oregon (2007), an M.S. from the same institution (2003), and a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Puget Sound (2001, cum laude).
His research focuses on geometric analysis and mathematical relativity, particularly studying partial differential equations related to the Einstein equations. He has supervised undergraduate projects on reaction-diffusion equations, discrete differential equations, and parabolic geometric flows.
He has held visiting research positions at the Albert Einstein Institute (2007–2009) and taught at institutions including the University of Washington - Tacoma (2009) and Lewis & Clark College, where he taught a broad range of courses from calculus to advanced topics like topology and real analysis. Recognitions include Lewis & Clark’s 2014 Teacher of the Year and his role as Chair of the Curriculum Committee for the College of Arts & Sciences (2019–2024).
His professional activities include organizing the Pacific Northwest Geometry Seminar, serving on editorial boards for the MAA Press and Cambridge University Press, and contributing to academic committees such as the Teaching Effectiveness Program at Lewis & Clark.
