Paul Petzschmann is a Senior Lecturer and Research Associate in European Studies at Carleton College, where he has been teaching since 2011. His academic roles also include Director of European Studies and cross-affiliation with Political Science and International Relations.
- Education: PhD and MPhil in Politics from Oxford University; BA in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick.
His research focuses on political theory and history of political thought, particularly in 19th and 20th-century Europe and the United States. Key subfields include intellectual migration, state theory, and crisis governance. He teaches courses such as The European Union from Constitution to Crisis, Comparative Nationalism, and seminars on European political ideologies.
