معرفی
Dr. Paul F. Morris is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Bowling Green State University’s College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD from Queen’s University, Canada, and is based in Room 532A of the Life Sciences Building. His research focuses on oomycete genomics, polyamine metabolism, and transport, particularly their roles in plant-pathogen interactions and controlled environment agriculture.
Research Highlights:
- NSF-funded work on biological control of Pythium pathogens in hydroponic systems
- Collaboration with researchers in Tai’an, China, studying Phytophthora capsici
- Investigation of chloroplast-localized polyamine synthesis pathways
Outreach: Dr. Morris leads the Kids’ Tech University program, an educational initiative for children aged 9–12, and maintains active participation in the Oomycete Molecular Genetics Network.
Publications: Recent work explores effector-triggered plant defenses, structural analysis of oomycete enzymes, and bacterial biocontrol mechanisms, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches to plant pathology and molecular genetics.
Scientific Awards:
- NSF Phase STTR award for biocontrol of Pythium pathogens
Lab Focus: The Morris Lab employs genetic and molecular tools to study novel proteins in oomycetes and plants, with emphasis on virulence strategies, stress responses, and agricultural sustainability.
