Dr Paul Lynch is a Reader in the Culture, Literacies, Inclusion & Pedagogy group at the University of Glasgow's School of Education, and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham's Vision Impairment Centre for Teaching and Research (VICTAR). He holds an interdisciplinary background with qualifications in Psychology and Education (Queen’s University Belfast), IT and Education (Trinity College Dublin), and Special Educational Needs (Middlesex University).
His research focuses on early childhood education, disability inclusion in Global South contexts, and innovative teaching methods for children with vision impairment. Key areas include neuro-developmental disabilities, assistive technology, and participatory action research approaches.
Recent projects include a GCRF-funded study on early childhood education in Malawi (2019-2021) and co-investigator roles in UKRI/MRC-funded initiatives in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Tanzania. He has authored/co-authored 29 publications since 2011, emphasizing evidence-based practices and policy advocacy.
Current teaching includes modules on inclusive pedagogies, international comparative education, and educational research methods. He supervises PhD students exploring topics like inclusive education models in Nepal and parental perspectives in China.
Funding highlights include a £500k ESRC/DFID grant (2015-2018) for curriculum reforms in Malawi and a £240k British Academy grant for cultural contexts of disability education. He serves on editorial boards for Disability and Society and British Journal of Visual Impairment.
