Paul Lipkin

Paul Lipkin, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Neurodevelopmental Pediatrician at Kennedy Krieger Institute's Center for Development and Learning in Baltimore, Maryland, providing clinical services since joining the faculty in 1995.

Research Interests: Dr. Lipkin's work centers on early identification and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, with emphasis on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) screening in primary care settings, internet-based participant-powered research methodologies, clinical management of ADHD and learning disorders, and neurobehavioral aspects of medical conditions. Current investigations focus on suicide prevention in children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Scientific Awards:

• Arnold J. Capute Award from American Academy of Pediatrics (2011)
• Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellowship (2010-2011)

Grants and Leadership: Secured funding from American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (with NIMH), CDC, PCORI, and NIH for ASD and suicide prevention research. Served as chair of AAP Council on Children with Disabilities (2002-2007), director of Interactive Autism Network, and medical informatics leader. Currently serves as Epic physician champion for electronic health record implementation.

Professional Initiatives: Provides national leadership on implementation of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and ASD screening guidelines through American Academy of Pediatrics while directing Kennedy Krieger's medical outpatient services and research informatics infrastructure.
