Paul Jutte

Prof. Paul Jutte is a Full Professor and Chair of Orthopaedics at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), University of Groningen. His expertise spans orthopaedic oncology, infections in skeletal/joint prostheses, and spinal tuberculosis. He holds leadership roles as Head of the Orthopaedic Department and co-director of the Man, Biomaterials and Microbes (MBM) research program at PRECISION Institute. Jutte completed his MD at the Free University Medical Center, Amsterdam, and a PhD focused on spinal tuberculosis (2006). He has over 200 peer-reviewed publications (H-index >40) and pioneered clinical networks for orthopaedic infections and osteoarthritis care.

His work emphasizes minimizing tissue damage, improving diagnostic accuracy, and surgical efficacy in tumor and infection treatments. Key roles include Chair of the Orthopaedic Residency Program, member of national and international societies (e.g., European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society), and leadership in guideline committees. He has held visiting professorships, including at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China (2015).
