Paul Johnson

Paul Johnson is an Adjunct Professor at the UWA Business School's Economics Department at The University of Western Australia. His expertise lies in British economic history, ageing and pensions, and labour market dynamics. He holds a D.Phil in Economic History from the University of Oxford (1982) and an MA in Modern History and Economics (1978).

His research focuses on Victorian economic structures, public pension systems, and the socio-economic status of the elderly. Notable works include The Cambridge Economic History of Modern Britain (2014) and Making the Market (2010). He has contributed extensively to studies on ageing societies' economic challenges, welfare state evolution, and microsimulation models like SAGE.

Johnson has authored or edited over 75 publications, including books, chapters, and peer-reviewed articles. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary policy issues, particularly in pension reform and intergenerational equity.
