Paul Jarle Mork is a Professor at the Department of Public Health and Nursing, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU. He leads the EU-funded selfBACK project and participates in the Back-UP project, focusing on musculoskeletal disorders and mHealth solutions. He heads the musculoskeletal research group and oversees the HUNT Study’s objective physical activity measurements. His research interests include lifestyle factors in musculoskeletal health, chronic pain, and digital health technologies.
Key projects include developing AI-based apps for low back pain management and exploring determinants of physical activity in aging populations. He has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed articles in 2025–2024, focusing on musculoskeletal epidemiology, sleep analysis, and occupational health. His work integrates machine learning for health monitoring and public health policy implications.
Notable collaborations include the DE-PASS initiative and COST-Action management. His research emphasizes translating evidence into clinical practice, such as the selfBACK app’s process evaluation and cost-effectiveness studies in Denmark. He also investigates long-term health outcomes in populations like prostate cancer survivors and preterm birth cohorts.
