Dr. Paul Hewitt is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Faculty of Arts. He holds a PhD from the University of Saskatchewan (1988) and is a registered clinical psychologist. His research primarily focuses on perfectionism as a multidimensional personality trait linked to psychopathology, depression, suicide, and interpersonal issues. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association and recipient of the Donald O. Hebb Award (2018) for distinguished contributions to psychology. Hewitt has authored over 300 publications on perfectionism, psychotherapy, and clinical psychology. His theoretical orientations include psychodynamic and relational psychoanalysis.
