Paul Hargreaves is a Research Fellow at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) within the Agriculture & Business Management department. His work focuses on soil health, grassland management, and greenhouse gas emissions. He leads projects on controlled traffic farming, methane detection, and sustainable agriculture practices. Hargreaves collaborates on initiatives like Dairy 4 Future and Climate Smart Cattle Farming, addressing emissions and soil quality. He supervises PhD and undergraduate research on soil microbiology and compaction.
Research Interests: Maintaining soil quality through precision agriculture, reducing emissions via legume integration, and developing tools for soil health assessment. Key projects include RESAS-funded work on controlled traffic systems and GHG mitigation strategies.
Collaborations span European initiatives, focusing on intercropping, soil biodiversity, and carbon recovery. His recent work emphasizes laser methane detection and nitrification inhibitors to curb emissions. Hargreaves also contributes to policy through soil management guidelines and participatory knowledge exchange programs.
