Paul Guajardo is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Houston, specializing in Mexican American Literature, Minority Literature, and Maritime Literature. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Washington and a B.A. from Brigham Young University.

His research spans memoirs, literature of the sea, minority narratives, and West African literature. Notably, he authored over 100 publications, including the book Chicano Controversy, and explores intersections between cultural identity, immigration law, and literary theory.
Paul’s recent publications emphasize maritime themes and autobiographical analysis. He received prestigious awards such as the Fulbright Scholar grant (2018-2020) and a fellowship to Senegal, highlighting his global academic engagement.
