معرفی
Dr. Paul Guagliardo is a Senior Research Officer at the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation & Analysis (CMCA) at The University of Western Australia (UWA). He holds a PhD in Experimental Physics from UWA (2011), focusing on positron annihilation studies, and has developed slow positron beam technology. His research focuses on applying NanoSIMS (nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry) and stable isotope labelling to study materials in geoscience, biology, and bio-medicine. Key applications include tracking nutrient delivery in drug systems, mineral-fluid interactions, and industrial collaborations with companies like Rio Tinto and BHP.
His expertise includes: Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS), Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy, and imaging mass spectrometry. Industrial projects include optimizing semiconductor substrates with Silanna Semiconductor and analyzing ore deposits with Rio Tinto. He has contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to clean energy, sustainable cities, and responsible consumption.
Guagliardo has 118 research outputs, including 2025 studies on gold remobilization in pyrite and 2024 work on stardust isotopes from supernovae. He leads projects like the Nuclear Security Centre (2024-2026) and has equipment like the NanoSIMS 50L for high-resolution analysis. Grants include funding for Positron Annihilation Studies (2013) and collaboration-based initiatives.
