Paul Greer

Paul Greer is an Associate Professor in the Program in Molecular Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School. His research program investigates olfactory system development, neural circuit formation, and the intersection of neuroscience with oncology. Greer's lab employs spatial transcriptomics and genetic approaches to map neural pathways and identify novel therapeutic targets.

Recent breakthrough research identified CD20 as a functional odorant receptor involved in predator avoidance behaviors. His team has also made significant advances in understanding the molecular basis of neurodegenerative disorders like ALS, developing RNAi-based gene therapies that extend survival in disease models.

Greer maintains active collaborations across neurobiology and cancer research, with publications in high-impact journals including Nature Communications and Cell. His work bridges fundamental neuroscience with translational medical applications.
