Paul Grainger is an Honorary Research Associate at the Department of Education, Practice and Society (EPS) within University College London’s Faculty of Education and Society. He also serves as Co-Director of the Centre for Post-14 Education and Work. With 16 years at UCL IOE, his roles include contributing to research projects in Further Education (FE) colleges and advising global initiatives such as the G20 Summit process and the G7 Commission on Internet Governance (GIDE). His work focuses on the future of work, education in the digital age, AI’s societal impact, and equitable internet access.
Research Interests: Grainger’s expertise spans FE policy, digital transformation in education, and the socio-technological challenges posed by emerging technologies. His interdisciplinary approach also explores medieval Franciscan preaching’s influence on 14th-century English literature, linking it to Chaucer’s narrative techniques. Current projects prioritize internet governance frameworks that balance commercial growth, individual empowerment, and community resilience without authoritarian control.
Professional Achievements: Co-authored The Coming of Age for FE? (2015), widely regarded as pivotal in FE discourse. His global engagements with G20/G7 bodies shape policy on digital skills, employment systems, and ethical internet use. Earlier roles include College Principal in Liverpool, emphasizing pedagogical respect for students.
