Paul Fili serves as Associate Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University, specializing in number theory and analysis with emphasis on arithmetic dynamics and distribution of algebraic numbers.
He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from Harvard University (2004) and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin (2010) under Jeffrey Vaaler's supervision.
His research investigates Bogomolov and Lehmer-type problems, unlikely intersections, and equidistribution in dynamical systems, recently expanding to stochastic dynamics through analysis of stochastic Julia sets and equidistribution. Current work includes preprints on stochastic equidistribution and mutual energy metrics.
His 13 publications since 2009 demonstrate sustained contributions to arithmetic dynamics, particularly in Mahler measure theory and height functions, with increasing focus on stochastic processes in recent works.
Fili currently mentors Ph.D. student Preston Kelley and teaches graduate courses including Real Analysis and Introduction to Analysis.
