Paul Facey

Dr. Paul Facey is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Sciences at Swansea University, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. His research focuses on bacterial genomics, microbiome-host interactions, and probiotic mechanisms. He holds a PhD in plant population genetics (2006) and conducted postdoctoral work on Streptomyces coelicolor stress responses at SUMS (2009).

His work includes collaborations with industry partners to study gastrointestinal microbiome interactions and long-term health benefits of probiotics. Key projects involve genomic evaluation of probiotic consortia and development of antimicrobial compounds against drug-resistant pathogens.
