Paul F. Miceli is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Physics at the University of Missouri. His research focuses on surfaces and interfaces of condensed matter using X-ray and neutron scattering techniques. He leads the X-Ray and Neutron Scattering Lab, specializing in condensed matter experiment.
Education: PhD in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Research Interests:
- Epitaxial crystal growth mechanisms and kinetic roughening
- Superconductivity surface effects using spin-polarized neutron reflectivity
- Atomic relaxation at surfaces and misfit dislocations
Facilities and Collaborations:
- Missouri University Research Reactor (MURR) for neutron reflectivity work
- National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory for in situ growth studies
- Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory for surface x-ray scattering facilities
