Paul De Decker

Dr. Paul De Decker is Associate Professor of Linguistics at Memorial University, with research expertise in sociolinguistics and experimental phonetics. His work examines linguistic creativity through acoustic and articulatory analysis, particularly how speakers manipulate voice to navigate social relationships and dialect perceptions.

Current research investigates patterns of vowel nasalization and /l/ allophony in Newfoundland English using innovative remote data collection methodologies. Recent publications validate video conferencing and self-recording techniques for phonetic analysis.
